Would you rather questions: funny, hard and for adults
Two bad options, zero escape routes. Here is a small taste of would you rather questions for adults and friends, from silly to genuinely hard.

Would you rather questions give two options that both cost something, so people have to pick and then defend it. The best ones are funny, specific and quick: a goose bodyguard or a narrator in your head. Here are 16 for adults and friends, by mood; the full deck is in the capybara cards app.
Would you rather questions are the oldest party game that still works. You need no cards, no setup and no skill, just two options that are both a little bit terrible and a group of people who refuse to agree.
What makes a great one is the trade. Both sides should cost something, and both should be easy to picture. "Would you rather be rich or famous" is too easy. "Would you rather have a narrator in your head or a laugh track after every sentence" is a fight you can have for twenty minutes.
This page is a small, hand written sample: classic ones, funny ones, a round for adults, a hard round and an extreme round for friends. Every question is original, so you won't find them on the usual lists.
Would you rather questions
The warm up. Easy to answer, impossible to answer without a follow up.
- Would you rather have a tiny narrator who describes everything you do out loud, or a laugh track after every sentence you say?
- Would you rather always be ten minutes early to everything, or always arrive with perfect hair but exactly five minutes late?
- Would you rather have every elevator you enter play your least favorite song, or every door you open creak like a haunted house?
- Would you rather have a goose as a bodyguard, or a raccoon as a personal assistant?
More of these are in the Would You Rather deck in the app. 171 more cards are in the Would You Rather deck.

Would you rather questions funny
The funny round. The sillier the picture, the louder the debate. Read them in a serious voice for extra points.
- Would you rather sneeze glitter for a month, or burp bubbles for a week?
- Would you rather have your laugh replaced with a duck quack, or your yawn replaced with a fire alarm?
- Would you rather wear a full suit of armor to the gym, or flip flops to a snowball fight?
More of these are in the Would You Rather deck in the app. 171 more cards are in the Would You Rather deck.
Would you rather questions for adults
Adult life has its own impossible choices: sleep, rent, inboxes and in laws. These are for dinner parties, work drinks and any table full of people over 25. If you want a version for two, our would you rather questions for couples keep it between you and your person.
- Would you rather never have to answer an email again, or never have to cook a weeknight dinner again?
- Would you rather get eight hours of sleep every night but wake up at 5 AM, or sleep until 10 AM but only get six hours?
- Would you rather have a coworker who microwaves fish every day, or one who replies all to every email?
More of these are in the Hot Takes deck in the app. 90 more cards are in the Hot Takes deck.
Would you rather questions hard for adults
Now it gets tricky. Both options sound fine until you think about them for three seconds. These are hard in the fun way, not the heavy way.
- Would you rather lose your phone for a month, or lose your sense of taste for a week?
- Would you rather know exactly what everyone thinks of your cooking, or exactly what everyone thinks of your outfits?
- Would you rather have a car that only plays one album forever, or a shower that is always a little too cold?
More of these are in the Hot Takes deck in the app. 90 more cards are in the Hot Takes deck.
Would you rather questions extreme (for friends)
The extreme round is for your closest friends, the ones who will remember your answer forever and bring it up at your wedding. Keep it absurd, keep it fun.
- Would you rather let your best friend post one photo from your camera roll without checking, or read your last ten texts out loud?
- Would you rather swap closets with your loudest friend for a month, or swap music libraries with your quietest one?
- Would you rather be stranded on an island with the friend who talks the most, or the friend who sleeps the most?
More of these are in the For Best Friends deck in the app. 147 more cards are in the For Best Friends deck.
When to bring out would you rather
It works almost anywhere, but some rounds fit some places better:
- Dinner parties: the adults round, while people are still sitting down and the food is coming.
- Road trips: the funny round, because the arguments last longer than the exits.
- Sleepovers and birthdays: the extreme round, with friends who can take a little chaos.
- Work drinks and team lunches: the hard round, which gets people talking without getting personal.
- Over text: send one at a time and ask for a voice note defending the answer.
The real fun is in the follow up. When someone picks the weird option, ask "why?" and let them explain. Half the time the reason is better than the question.
How to play would you rather
There is no wrong way, but these rules keep it moving:
- No "neither." You have to pick one. That is the whole game.
- Pick together. Count to three and everyone answers at once.
- The minority defends. Ten seconds to explain, then a revote if you want one.
- Rotate the reader. Whoever lost the vote reads the next question.
Five questions with real arguments beat twenty rushed ones. Let the funny answers breathe.
This list is only a taste
Sixteen questions get you through one round. The capybara cards app has the rest: the Would You Rather deck alone has 171 cards, Hot Takes adds 90 more debates and For Best Friends adds 147 cards for your group, and new cards keep arriving.
No scrolling, no searching for the next one. Open a deck, tap once, read it out loud and pass the phone to the next person. Nobody has to come up with questions, the shuffle keeps repeats away, and it works just as well over FaceTime as it does on the couch.
Quick answers
What are good would you rather questions?
The best would you rather questions put two specific, slightly unfair options side by side so nobody can answer without thinking for a second. Concrete beats abstract: a squeaky chair forever is funnier than being unlucky forever.
What are hard would you rather questions for adults?
Hard ones trade two things adults actually care about, like time, sleep, money, friends or comfort, so both answers cost something. They should make people pause, not feel bad.
Where can I get the full list of would you rather questions?
This page only has 16. The full Would You Rather deck has 171 cards, and Hot Takes and For Best Friends add more, all in the capybara cards app.
How do you play would you rather with friends?
One person reads, everyone picks at the same time, and the outvoted side has ten seconds to defend itself. Rotate the reader every round so everyone gets to ask.
